Purple Peru produces average yields of uniform roots that have dark purple skin and flesh. This is probably my favorite variety. It has an earthy rich flavor, mild sweetness, and not much stringiness. It performs well in a variety of conditions.
We purchased this variety from Sandhill Preservation who got it from the USDA.
The plant habit is vining, and leaf color is green. Leaf shape is mostly cordate with some triangular leaves, and most leaves have 3 points.
