Purple Myanmar is a variety that I obtained from the USDA Plant Genetic Resources Conservation Unit in Griffin, Georgia.
We requested this variety for the purpose of introduction to local markets and for testing its suitability for growing in Iowa.
USDA documentation describes Purple as a variety collected from Myanmar and obtained by the USDA in 1991. It has purple skin and cream colored flesh.
Yield was very good and it produced a variety of different shaped potatoes.
The plant habit is vining. Leaf color is mostly green with some purple leaves. Leaf shape is mostly cordate with 1 point, while a few leaves near the center of the plant are hastate shaped with 3 points.
